This notice covers two separate things: the iOS app Soloppgang and these web pages. Both come from MABUCON AS, but the app does not talk to the website.

The app has no user account, no analytics and no tracking, and MABUCON receives no data from it. The sun calculation runs on the device. But to show place names, search for places and draw the map, the app asks Apple — and at that point your location or search term leaves the device. The web pages, by contrast, log visits the way web servers do. Both are set out separately below.

The app: what stays on the device

  • The entire sun calculation. It makes no network calls, and the app works in airplane mode.
  • The chosen location and horizon height. Stored locally in a shared container (App Group group.no.mabucon.soloppgang) so the app and the widget show the same thing.

The app: what is sent to Apple

  • Your location, or the point you pick on the map, to look up place names and time zone.
  • Search terms you type in the location picker, to find places.
  • Requests for map tiles, to draw the map.

These are Apple's own services. The requests go to Apple and are handled under Apple's privacy policy — they do not pass through us. The app contacts no other services.

The app: what does not happen

  • No analytics, tracking or advertising.
  • No third-party SDKs. The app has no third-party dependencies.
  • No user account and no sign-up.
  • MABUCON receives no data from the app — not location, not searches, not usage patterns.

The app: location access

The app asks for location only while it is in use, and you can decline. You then pick a location on the map instead, and the app works as normal.

The web pages: what is logged

This concerns the website mabucon.no, not the app — the app still sends nothing here.

The web server logs every visit the way web servers do: IP address, time, which page was requested, and which browser asked. The logs are used for operations and troubleshooting. They are not shared with anyone, and not used for analytics, profiling or marketing.

The logs are not collected in any database and are not backed up. They stay on the server until they are rotated away to free space, and are lost when the service is updated or restarted. How long that takes depends on traffic and deployments, and so cannot be stated as a fixed period.

The pages set no cookies and load nothing from third parties — no fonts, scripts or tracking pixels. There is nothing here that follows you onwards.

From the app we receive nothing, so there is nothing there to disclose, correct or delete. From the web pages we have the server logs described above. Questions about them can be sent to the address above, and you may complain to Datatilsynet, the Norwegian Data Protection Authority.
